Designed for a client in Oxford, this bespoke maple and ebony workstation not only required placement for several computer monitors, but also needed a higher than average storage solution, the ability to use as a teaching console, and to fit into a compact space.
Our approach was to give the user control over each square millimetre. The flat-screen monitors are arranged to be height adjustable, providing optimum viewing, and the cabling and peripherals are carefully managed to provide more space for the work surface. The workstation is bow-shaped, giving access to as many people as possible, for teaching purposes. The two large cabinets on either side are ideal for storage, with height-adjustable shelving providing for any paper and document management system.
The ebony work surface is ergonomically aligned for maximum usability, and the ebony posterior of the workstation can be used to carry a notice board. The elegance of the maple contrasts beautifully with the ebony trim, and provides a workstation that not only provides an ideal teaching environment, but deserves to be admired in its own right.
